On Tuesday July 9th, 2019, we lost our beloved friend & fearless leader, Sam Hyde. He was surrounded by his family.

He truly was the fantastic person you thought he was. Our thoughts and love are with his family.

We know everyone’s next question will be “What about the store?” Sam didn’t want us going anywhere. We’ll be open normal business hours. If you feel the need to stop by, do not hesitate. Sam understood the comfort of being surrounded by books.

Thank you for your continued support.

On Saturday, September 3rd, 2022, Tasha Bushnell passed away after a battle with stage IV cancer. She was surrounded by her family. As a knowledgeable and dedicated bookseller at Hyde Brothers since 1999, it was a natural transition for her to take the role of manager following Sam Hyde’s passing in 2019. In December 2021, Tasha and her husband Sean bought the bookstore, fulfilling a long-time dream of hers.

Despite this overwhelming loss, we want to be clear: we are steadfast in the vision of the bookstore and will remain open. Losing two fearless leaders in the span of three years is unfathomable, but we are carrying on through our grief, just as they would have wanted. Tasha’s husband, Sean, and two children, KT and Madison, will continue the legacies of both Sam and Tasha alongside the rest of the staff.

Thank you, again, for your continued support.
