James Curtis Cary was born in Canton, Ohio. He first came to Indiana in 1961, arriving in Fort Wayne in 1967. He completed a stint in the Regular Army overseas, as well as studied history, German, and education at Ball State in the 70s. He later completed a Master’s in social sciences at State U. He is a retired City Letter Carrier of the United States Postal Service and a retired non-commissioned officer in the United States Army Reserve. A proud member of the National Association of Letter Carriers Summit City Branch #116, he is also active in the local Democratic Socialists of America and a trustee for the Fort Wayne Chapter of the A. Philip Randolph Institute. Since 2015, he has been writing and reading short stories at Craig Nix’s “COP-A-Story” sessions and more recently at the similar Short Fiction Saturday on the last Saturday of the month at the ACME in the East State Village. He lives in downtown Fort Wayne.
